About us

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Southern California founding chapter was formed in 1919 by Anne Banning and developed as an outgrowth of the Red Cross Shops established in World War I. It became the first nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization begun in the West to recognize the potential of volunteers in helping those less fortunate to a better, more meaningful life.

NATIONAL ASSISTANCE LEAGUE, organized in 1935, now has more than 23,000 member volunteers in 120 chapters across the United States. The innovative programs of Assistance League have touched the lives of more than 1.5 million children, seniors, families and others in need.

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Saddleback Valley was organized in 1985 and boasts more than 180 member volunteers and Assisteens®, (teens grades 7 through 12). Annually, our volunteers contribute over 9,500 hours of service to over 18,000 individuals through our philanthropic programs. By working together, our members and supporters help others in our local community live a more fulfilling life.
